The Director duo Abbas-Mustan are back with yet another thriller movie titled “Race”. The movie is an action thriller and murder mystery with a dash of romance and humour.
‘Race’ is a story of two brothers – Race is the story of 2 brothers – Ranvir Singh (Saif Ali Khan) and Rajeev Singh (Akshaye Khanna)- one of them plays to win, while the other one plays to defeat.
They breed horses on their huge ranch houses and are one of the biggest bookies in the horse racing circuit.
Character sketches
Saif Ali Khan as Ranvir Singh :Ranvir is the older of the two brothers. He is a ruthless businessman who will not stop at anything to win the game. Playing with danger is his passion, and outsmarting his opponents is his favourite timepass.
Akshaye Khanna as Rajeev Singh :The younger of the two brothers, Rajeev is spoilt, laidback, and happy to be so. But underneath the surface there lurks an anger which he tries to rein in with liquor. As a result, both anger and liquor get the better of him and end up controlling him.
Katrina Kaif as Sophia :She is Ranvir’s beautiful and innocent looking secretary who manages all his important affairs. She is indispensable to Ranvir, who trusts her completely, but does not reciprocate her love.
Bispasha Basu as Sonia : is a beautiful and glamourous model with a shady past. She is looking for a man who will keep her in his heart. She is waiting for the rich and famous Ranvir Singh to propose to her.
Anil Kapoor as Robert D’ Costa : A private detective with the deceptive air of an idiot. He is constantly eating fruits while solving a case. He is sharp, resourceful and quick. His appearance in the story makes the plot thicken as he unravels one lie after the other.
Sameera Reddy as Mini :The attractive and sexy assistant of Robert D Costa. Like a dumb brunette, Mini constantly asks stupid questions and is mostly relegated by her boss to cutting fruits or doing menial jobs.
Synopsis:
‘Race’ is the story of two brothers – Ranvir Singh and Rajeev Singh , who live on the edge of life. Their business is horse racing. Winning is their habit and danger is their sport.
Set against the high-flying social fabric of modern South Africa, ‘Race’ is about betrayal and greed, intrigue and revenge.
Even love comes laced with a motive. The stakes are too high. Double them and you have the perfect ground for a perfect murder. That is exactly what happens – a murder.

The glamourous model Sonia whom Ranvir loved, or the beautiful secretary Sophia who loved Ranvir.
The sudden appearance of detective Robert D Costa and his dumb but sexy assistant Mini deepens the plot into a gripping tale of drama.
With the brothers pitched against each other, who will win? The one who plays to win or the one who plays to defeat?
The Plot :
The elder brother Ranvir is known to be very smart and aggressive while Rajeev is a constant alcoholic. Sophia is Ranvir’s personal secretary and loves him. Ranvir is however ignorant of her feelings towards him.
Shaina is an Indian Model and shares a beautiful relationship with Ranvir. But fate has some other plans for her. She gets married to Rajeev and her world is shattered when she discovers that he is a chronic alcoholic.
Rajeev is still addicted to alcohol although he promised his elder brother that he would leave it after marriage.
In a moment of truth Ranvir and Shaina come close to each other and an affair begins. All hell is broken loose when Rajeev suspects his wife of double crossing.
A Murder is committed.
Enter Robert.D. Costa, a detective who lives by his values. He is desperate to find out the truth and arrest the perpetrator. He is very clever and has a bizarre addiction to fruits. Mini is R.D’s personal assistant and is as dumb as sexy she is.
Thus the Race begins as the story unfolds in a series of unexpected twists and turns and a nail-biting climax which is sure to keep you on the edge of your seat. With brilliantly executed action sequences and an intriguing storyline, Race is certainly a movie to watch out for.
A professionally executed movie by brother duo Abbas-Mastan , with stylized clothes,well shot locations and intrigue!!!
The movie has a number of gritty action sequences. For one such stunt, Saif jumped off the terrace of a 22-storey high-rise in Durban.
The stunt was conducted under the supervision of action director Allan Amin. Saif was secured with a safety cables to control the speed and direction of his fall.

Saif and Kareena: Competition for Mr & Mrs Beckham
After father-daughter duo Anil and Sonam , it’s the turn of lovers Saif and Kareena to be haunted by brands.
The grapevine is abuzz with news of Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor being offered a whopping 10 crore to do commercials together. After their sky-high fee for films, they will now charge an equally huge amount for ad films.
According to reports, Saif and Bebo may do ads together for health drinks, automobiles and luxury watch brands, among others. No wonder they are now being compared to David and Victoria Beckham.
Apparently, Kareena wants a body like Posh Spice so she can model for any product in the world. It remains to be seen if India’s hottest couple can come close to the Beckhams.
Since Kareena was earlier on an extended break from work, last year she was able to spend maximum time with Saif. She visited him several times while he was shooting in Bangkok and other places for his forthcoming films. But now Kareena too has got back to working and after her hit film Jab We Met, her kitty is gradually filling up as producers and directors are now keen to sign her on.
Hence now Kareena and Saif are planning ahead and trying to co-ordinate their schedules. Kareena came up with the idea of doing brand endorsements as a couple so that they can spend maximum time with each other and Saif readily agreed. A source says “Saif and Kareena are like a new couple who want to be together all the time.”
While both Saif and Kareena are being selective about the films they do, they will have to consider the script carefully even if they are offered other films together. But they have a wider choice with brand endorsements and hence they have put out feelers that they are ready to endorse good products as a couple.
So it seems that Saif-Kareena are going the John-Bipasha way of endorsing brands as a couple. Saif already endorses several brands and Kareena too has recently jumped on the brand endorsement band wagon.

Our Chote Nawab, Saif went diamond shopping over the weekend!
Actor Saif Ali Khan is looking for a pair of diamond earrings to gift his lady love. So he asks help from an expert. None other than his sister, Jewellery designer Saba Ali Khan.
So Saif was in Hyderabad this weekend to cheer Saba and also do some shopping for his new lady love.
“I’ve asked her to design earrings for a special someone,” said Saif. So it seems that the rock Kareena’s already sporting is not dazzling enough?
The Chotte Nawab evidently likes to make big gestures and give big gifts.
But of course whatever demands big brother might be making he did manage to make sure Saba’s collection sparkled with the smart set.
Prostitute turns Angel!
Rani Mukherjee is all set to do a moral about-turn.
After playing three different kinds of prostitutes in The Rising, Laga Chunari… and Saawariya Rani Mukherjee is set for a U-turn.
In her new under-production Yashraj film directed by Kunal Kohli Rani plays an angel who descends down to look after business-executive Saif Ali Khan’s children
Rani is all smiles about this role reversal. “You can call it my prostitute trilogy. I hope people will remember my three different portrayals of the Fallen Woman with affection.” Says Rani with her trademark smile.
Some of her critics have sniggered at Rani’s back-to-back roles as a prostitute in Laga Chunari Mein Daag and Saawariya.
Rani ,however, is unfazed. “What’s the big deal? An actor’s job is to play a variety of challenging roles. And I don’t think anyone has the right to question any actor for his choice of parts.”
How does it feel to be playing an angel?
“I can’t be happy doing just good-women or bad-women roles. Luckily for me I got to experiment”, says the actress who has always taken grave risks with her career.
“Right now I’m not allowed to talk about Kunal’s film. But yes, any opportunity to surprise yourself and the audience is welcome,” says Rani.
For now Rani is happy playing the angel in Kohli’s film. She’s currently shooting for the film with Saif Ali Khan in Bangkok.
Hit pair Saif Ali Khan and Rani Mukerjee will set the screen on fire once again in a Kunal Kohli-directed film. However, despite the film having started production a month ago, chhote nawab Saif has just started to make his presence felt on the sets.
Wondering why?
“This yet-to-be-titled flick brings the Hum Tum team Saif, Rani and Kunal together. But Saif was not involved in a single shot in the initial days ‘coz of his changed appearance for another Yash Raj film he was shooting for viz Tashan.
In Tashan, he wears an unusual hairstyle with long sideburns and a double barrel moustache. He can’t alter this look for the Kunal Kohli film and get back to his Tashan look in a matter of days. So the makers had planned both the films in such a way that the schedules don’t clash and disturb continuity,” an insider revealed.
Now that Tashan is over, Chote Nawab is busy catching up on the shooting schedule for the new movie.

Saif and Kareena to marry in three years!!!!
“Are Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor married?” has been the most asked question ever since the rumours that Bollywood’s newest couple have sealed their whirlwind romance with a secret wedding was out…but Saif has denied it! Actor Saif Ali Khan has finally set media speculation to rest by saying actress Kareena Kapoor and he “would certainly be getting married in the next three to four years.” The two have been going steady for some time now.
The couple has been very public about their closeness but rumours of a nikah started days after Kareena was seen wearing what looked like a diamond engagement ring.
Saif made no bones about his feelings when he had Kareena’s name tattooed on his arm. But when asked about the wedding rumours, the actor said such rumours will only upset both families.
“Right now, we have our individual careers to look out for. Please, allow us to concentrate on our careers. I’m especially worried about how such rumours would affect Kareena’s career. At this juncture of her career, the last thing she needs is to have people eagerly marrying her off,” he said.
“The fact is I’m seriously involved and, yes, the relationship would come to a logical conclusion, namely, marriage. But when it does, we’ll announce it properly. Kareena is the woman I want to marry and will marry,” Saif declared.
Asked whether the actor and Kareena have undergone a secret “nikaah” (marriage) ceremony Wednesday afternoon, Saif said it was absolutely untrue.
Kareena, on her part, categorically said in an interview that took place on Tuesday, ”I am not getting married for the next five years.”
“All I will say is it’s absolutely untrue. There’s been far too much speculation and fabrication about our relationship. It’s annoying me. I’m sure it’s annoying people as well. Far too much attention is being paid to our relationship. Rumours about our marriage are at the limit. Both our families are very upset by them,” said Saif.
A section of the media reported that marriage was on the cards for the most talked-about duo in showbiz. The reports have been taken with a pinch of salt by Kareena’s parents, who feel that such a premature announcement can affect her career, which has taken off in a big way after the success of “Jab We Met”. Meanwhile, industry sources insisted that a wedding had taken place. They said that the Khan family had witnessed the nikaah, but the Kapoor family has been kept out of it.
So, when do the two plan to tie the knot? “We’ll certainly be getting married. But not for the next three to four years,” Saif said.
Despite rumours of Kareena and Saif Ali Khan being an ‘item’ , the two seemed least concerned about the media or public gaze as they recently stepped out together along with friends. Kareena and Saif were spotted at a restaurant over the weekend enjoying each other’s company. And despite the fact that they were with friends, both of them were not shy of showing their affection for the other. Saif was seen constantly hugging and complimenting Kareena.
Kareena and Saif began bonding while shooting for their forthcoming Yash Raj film Tashan together. At the restaurant a source claims that although Kareena and Saif interacted with the others, they were mostly involved with each other. Their friends too understood their need for privacy and left them alone for most part. In fact they behaved like a normal couple having a casual outing and both were dressed comfortably and casually in jeans and tees.
The actor admitted that he had in the past consulted his astrologer, Pandit Suvashitraj, about his future, but on a flippant note. “I’m greatly disturbed by the amount of information he seems to have accumulated about my personal life. Even I’m not aware of the ‘nikaah’. I spoke to him Friday morning after the story appeared. He said his words had been twisted. And he flatly denied having made any statement on my marriage plans. I don’t think I’ll be speaking to him again.”
Saif was apparently shooting for director Kunal Kohli at 12.30 p.m. Wednesday when he was supposed to be getting married to Kareena. “I’ve the perfect alibi,” he laughed.
When asked about the statement made by the actor’s mother that he did not inform his family when he married for the first time, Saif admitted to doing so. “That’s true. In a million years, I wouldn’t do that to my family again.”
Are some people spreading the rumours about the marriage to actually harm Kareena’s career? “I never thought of it that way,” said Saif. Meanwhile Kareena is eager to do films with big directors and stars, after finally bagging a Yash Raj film; the actress has now set her sights on working opposite Shahrukh Khan in Robot. Kareena is an ardent SRK fan and claims that she shared good on-screen chemistry with him in their film Asoka. Since then she has been waiting for another chance to work with SRK, they were earlier supposed to do Ramgopal Varma’s film Time Machine together, but apparently that did not work out. Now she is going all out to vie for the female lead role in South director Shankar’s film Robot. Reportedly Kareena even went to SRK’s home Mannat recently to personally let him know that she is interested in doing Robot opposite him. Shahrukh has already been finalized to work in Robot which is supposedly a science fiction film. Kareena seems hell bent on working with top directors and stars and she is going all out to ensure that she is considered in the big league.
“I don’t think rumours of marriage would damage her career. But getting married definitely would. As long as the truth is known, there’s no harm done. And the truth is these marriage rumours are utter rubbish. We aren’t married. We aren’t even living together. Unfortunately, I don’t get to see Kareena half as much as I’d like to,” he said.
According to friends of both, he has never been more committed in a relationship. Marriage is definitely on the cards.
Space is not a constraint in Saif’s life and home. The actor’s new home is large enough for 20 people to live comfortably, he replies to a query whether his new home is being done up to “accommodate two people”.
“I think 20 people can live comfortably in my new home. And if you mean Kareena and me, I hope we do live together in that house. But that would be in the future when both of us and our families are ready.”
Do these rumours make Valentine’s Day unpleasant for the two? No way. “But I am not telling you about our plans. They are very private.”
