May 09, 2008 By: ZendaZelia Category: Film Reviews No Comments →

Cast: Amitabh Bachchan, Aman Siddiqui, Juhi Chawla, Shah Rukh Khan, Priyanshu Chatterji

Director: Vivek Sharma

Amitabh Bachchan is an actor par excellence and that is obvious in the way each of his characters differs from the next one. True to form we have yet another spectacular and memorable performance from the Big B.

bhoothnath 001

In this endeavour, he is well supported by veterans like Satish Shah and Rajpal Yadav. Juhi Chawla as Anjali Sharma and a special appearance by Shah Rukh all add to the story, but the crowd stealer is Amitabh as Bhootnath. Aman Siddiqui as Banku( Aman Sharma), the mischievous kid with a heart of gold is great. His interactions with Bhootnath form the back bone of this much awaited summer release.

It’s believed that children have the strongest connection to god. They have the ability to perceive Goodness in everything and everyone.

bhoothnath 002

This is a story about a seven-year-old naughty yet innocent boy, who unknowingly turns a foe into a friend. This is a story about Banku and his friend, Bhoothnath…about innocence, honesty and the pure love of a child.

Bhoothnath is the story of a ghost named Nath (Amitabh Bachchan) who makes it impossible for anyone to stay in his home in Goa since his death. Things are so bad that even taxi drivers refuse to chauffer anyone as soon as they hear that Nath Villa is the destination. But that’s till Nath comes across Banku (Aman Siddiqui) – the new kid who has moved in with his parents Anjali (Juhi Chawala) and Aditya (SRK) into Nath Villa.

bhoothnath 003

So while the rest of the city trembles at the thought of the family staying there, Banku is too busy making friends with Nath whom he calls his Angel. For Banku there is nothing like a ghost. Slowly and steadily the two forge a deep friendship much to everyone’s confusion because no one but Banku can see this so called Angel.

During one incident Banku with the help of his Angel gets his school mate out of trouble. But this only causes a rumour spreading fast across the school about Banku’s special friend. As a result the principal hauls both Banku and Anjali into his office and gives him the final warning. Anjali upset with her son’s constant mischief reprimands him and gives him a slap. Unable to prove himself, Banku sulks and doesn’t speak to either Bhoothnath or his mother.

bhoothnath 004

However, soon its time for Banku’s fancy dress competition and when another mother comments on how Banku is dressed exactly like ‘Nath uncle’ does reality hit home for Anjali. Heading home after the competition with Banku, Anjali comes home to find herself dealing with a group of builders who have been given permission by Nath’s son Vijay (Priyanshu Chatterji) to build a resort there. Hearing this Nath gets very angry and raises a storm – literally! And that’s when she finally comes face to face with her son’s Angel and learns the real truth about Nath and his ghostly existence.

Now that Anjali knows of Bhothnath she sets about helping his ghost to finally stop wandering. And how after setting up a ‘shrad’ ( prayer service for the departed soul) at home Banku, Anjali, Aditya and Nath’s son - Vijay - finally help Angel achieve mukti is what the rest of the film is all about.

It is believed a mother’s love is selfless. But a child’s love can transform relationships; it comes with no expectations and no boundaries. Their love can make you believe in miracles.

bhoothnath 005

Bhoothnath is a story about a little innocence, a little playfulness, and a lot of emotions that will touch hearts. This is a story that will show adults to see the world through the eyes of a child… an angel, a creation of god. It’s then that one will realize what a beautiful world they live in after all.

Vivek Sharma ,the director has done a really good job. From a script that is tightly held and moves quick to special effects that definitely reflect umpteen hours in the studio, the director’s hard work is clearly visible all throughout the movie.

Bhoothnath has everything for all age groups – fun for the kids and emotions for the adults. Aman has done a great job as the naughty kid and Big B is simply brilliant. From his emotions as a ghost trying to frighten the world to coming to terms that a child has him fooled to his final extremely emotional journey…everything leaves you spell bound.

Bhoothnath is definitely what we needed this summer to help keep this heat wave at bay. All through this movie you are so engrossed in what is happening that all other issues take a back seat.

For kids who are enjoying their summer break, for parents who need to keep their kids occupied, and most importantly for Bollywood that has had nothing much to offer this entire summer…..Bhoothnath is just what the doctor ordered!!!!

Krazzy_4_pic

Rakesh Roshan, the producer, director & writer with par excellence has always walked “the path not taken” as said Robert Frost. Always expect the unexpected, for he almost always delivers. Rakesh Roshan has always explored new cinematic territory, which won him numerous awards & accolades.

With KRAZZY 4, Rakesh Roshan hands over the directorial baton to Jaideep Sen (who worked closely with Rakesh Roshan on both KOI..MIL GAYA and KRRISH) even as he revels in the role of producer par excellence! Impressed

with Jaideep’s dedication and willingness to learn, Rakesh entrusted his next film KRAZZY 4 into Jaideep’s capable hands. The music of the film has been composed by award winning music composer none other than Rajesh Roshan.

Character Sketches :

Juhi Chawla as Dr Sonali :As a psychiatrist she knows what’s wrong with her patients; as a sensitive woman she firmly believes that if you really want to make them well, you should treat them with your heart, not just your mind.

Arshad Warsi as Raja:Truly the angry young man! His blood boils, his fists clench and he’s ready to beat the daylights out of anyone who upsets him in some way.

Irfan Khan as Dr Mukherjee: He has decided that he’s the Captain of the team! But so obsessed is he by the need to be in control of a situation, he doesn’t realize he’s totally lost control of himself and his mind.

Rajpal Yadav as Gangadhar. He’s marching to a beat only he can hear; he’s fighting for a cause that’s long over. But in his muddled mind he’s still fighting for Swaraj : still hobnobbing with the likes of Nehru and Mahatma Gandhi.

Suresh Menon as Dabboo. Cute and adorable,he’s everybody’s pet and however far gone the rest may be, when it comes to Dabboo, everybody’s super protective. Even if he can hear and understand, Dabboo refuses to speak. And nobody knows why!

Dia Mirza as Shikha. As a TV reporter she controls the news on the channel, but as a woman she’s unable to control the unruly and unmanageable rage of Raja - the man she loves.

Rajat Kapur as Industrialist R K Sanyal, who’s also Dr Sonali’s husband. But in his quest for power and money he takes a step that will have alarming consequences for his wife and her patients - the KRAZZY 4!

It’s a mad, mad, mad world out there . Someone somewhere is going crazy over money , power, stress ,overwork, love….. Different reasons to go crazy!

It’s a mad, mad, mad world out there & everybody’s worried they’re going bananas….

Except the KRAZZY 4 because they know they’re already Krazzy!

The Plot:

Raja’s anger knows no bounds, he’ll hit out at the slightest provocation or even without. Intermittent explosive disorder is what the doctors call it. ‘Sarphira’, is what everybody else does!

Dr Mukherjee is your perfect doc – clean and orderly, not a pin out of place. So what’s wrong with that? Obsessive compulsive personality disorder, that’s what.

Schizophrenic Gangadhar lives in the past…his mates are Nehru and Gandhi, Tilak and Patel! He’s so busy fighting for swaraj and freedom, he’s lost his sanity!

Cute Dabboo is everybody’s pet. So what if he hasn’t spoken for years? So what if he’s frightened all the time? So what if he’s autistic?

juhi_Krazzy_4

Dr Sonali treats them all. She has faith that all it needs is a little time and lots of patience to make them normal, to make them part of the mad, mad, mad world out there…

But is the KRAZZY 4 ready for the world? And is the world ready for them?

Watch out! The KRAZZY 4 are coming your way!!

And yes…If you think they are crazy, think again!

One of the biggest attractions of Krazzy 4 are the item numbers — one will be performed by none other than Shah Rukh Khan while the other will be done by Hrithik Roshan.

Krazzy 4 will release this April.

A Good flick to chill out with!!!!

Juhi returns with a Bang!!!

February 25, 2008 By: ZendaZelia Category: News No Comments →

Juhi Chawla Mehta returns with Rakesh Roshan!!!!

Juhi Chawla 002

Not too many cineastes would recall Juhi Chawla’s presence in a Rakesh Roshan film. But nudge your memory, and you’ll recall her in the director’s ill-fasted “Karobaar” in 2000 where she played Rishi Kapoor’s wife who’s tempted to spend a night with business tycoon Anil Kapoor.

The remake of the Robert Redford-Demi Moore starrer “An Indecent Proposal” was a fiasco.

“That’s because the film got delayed. By the time ‘Karobaar’ came out the story was stale. Anyway, Juhi is working with us again,” said Roshan . Juhi Chawla will be seen in a Rakesh Roshan film again, “Krazzy 4″, which is scheduled for release April 14.

The lovely actress last seen as a demure wife in Ganesh Acharya’s “Swami”, has been cast as psychiatrist in Roshan’s comedy “Krazy 4″ directed by Raja Sen.

Juhi Chawla 044

“Juhi plays a psychiatrist. We needed someone mature. While all the guys, Arshad Warsi, Rajpal Yadav, Irrfan Khan and Suresh Menon, are funny Juhi is very serious,” added Roshan. Juhi’s maturity is an excellent foil to the lighthearted ‘patients’ Warsi,Yadav, Khan and Menon.

The film is being directed by Raja Sen.

This is Juhi’s second role as a shrink in a comedy. She was given the thankless task of curing Govinda’s mind in David Dhawan’s “Deewana Mastana”.

Not too many of our leading ladies get to play psychiatrists. Lately, starlet Pinky Harwani starred as a shrink whom the troubled Sammir Dattani was seeing in Vikram Bhatt’s “Life Mein Kabhi Kabhie”.

Almost her entire track was edited out.
