Kareena Kapoor just added another feather in her plum hat and this time, it’s something big.

The news has it that after much anticipation, she has finally bagged the elusive opportunity of working with her dream actor, Aamir Khan!

And the film is Rajkumar Hirani’s forthcoming film.

The news is a big one for Kareena, as she has managed to steal the ever so elusive and perfectionist Aamir Khan from actresses like Rani Mukherji, Preity Zinta and Vidya Balan.

There was some confusion in between, but last night she finally got her contract letter from Hirani’s office.

And she’s obviously delighted, because her last film with Aamir Khan which Mani Ratnam had planned, did not work out.

All eyes and high hopes now for Abbas-Mustan’s action thriller “Race”.

The Bollywood box office has been virtually dry since “Jodhaa Akbar” hit the theatres.
Releasing March 21, the film is expected to bring some respite to the dry run the box office is going through now. Starring Anil Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan, Bipasha Basu, Katrina Kaif Akshaye Khanna and Sameera Reddy, Race is a story of intrigue and passion.

Apart from Ashutosh Gowariker’s epic romance “Jodhaa Akbar”, the only film worth mentioning, which fed the box-office during this lean period, was Subhash Ghai’s “Black & White”, about terrorism.

Though Ghai’s movie has been critically acclaimed, it is not exactly a money-spinner for Mukta Arts. Despite being well executed and marked by Anil’s sinewy performance, the film has proved to be a damp squib at the box office.

In any case “Black & White”, which in terms of its theme is unlike other Ghai productions, was not expected to be a big hit. But coming from the Mukta Arts’ stable and the fact that Ghai returned to direction with it after a long hiatus, it had generated hope.

However, collections in the first week of its release were not too heartening a story.

In Mumbai, the movie could collect nearly Rs.60 lakh from 40 cinemas in the first week, which is generally not a figure one would expect of a Ghai production. There are also reports that the movie attracted poor audience in North India in spite of the tax exemption in Delhi and in Uttar Pradesh.

Though the last movie of Tips, “Naquaab” was a box-office dud, “Race” has prospects in the box office because it is a breezy thriller. Made on a budget of over Rs.350 million, it is also the most costly movie Tips has ever made and also the most stylistic production.

Even without taking into consideration Abbas-Mustan’s expertise in the thriller genre, the cast itself should be a big draw for the movie. Anil, Bipasha, Saif and Katrina all have good box-office spells in their respective career, lately. That itself should be favourable for “Race”.

So now all have their fingers crossed to see how Race races the Box Office.

After the last of her ” Prostitute Trilogy” as Rani affectionately calls her role in Sawariya her forthcoming film is a fantasy family drama directed by Kunal Kohli. It requires her to do dangerous sequences flying in the air as an angel.

The film reportedly inspired by the classic drama Mary Poppins (1964) requires Rani’s character to play a nanny with magical powers who looks after the kids of Saif Ali Khan’s character, a business executive.

In it, Mary Poppins ,played by Julie Andrews, is a super-nanny who looks after the kids of a cold banker. She flies in with her umbrella whenever the children are in distress and proceeds to set things right for them using her extraordinary magical powers, before flying off again.

It was the flying around that she had to do as an angel that forced Rani to grapple with wires, harnesses and pulleys, equipment you would expect Hrithik Roshan and Akshay Kumar to be more comfortable with.

“Rani underwent many rehearsals and trials for the stunt scenes. We shot on many outdoor locations in Mumbai, at Film City and inside the Yash Raj studios. At every place, we took utmost precaution. It could have been very dangerous if Rani had slipped. Thankfully, she pulled it off without retakes,” said Kohli .

Another challenge for Rani was that she had to wear the same delicate angel ensemble, designed by Manish Malhotra, throughout the film.

Amisha Patel, also in the film, faced her own challenges. She had to learn Scuba diving for underwater sequences between her and Saif, presumably the masala part of the film.

One after the other, problems come searching for Mrs & Mr Sanjay Dutt. In a new turn to the Dutt marriage saga, Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt and his bride Manyata have been directed by a Mumbai court to appear before it on April 1 and prove the legality of their marriage.

The Bandra metropolitan magistrate on Tuesday evening summoned the newly wed couple in connection with the hearing a case filed by Manyata’s first husband, Meraj-Ur-Rehman, who claims that he is still married to Dutt’s bride.

The court has issued notice to Dutt and Manyata, who will have to appear before the court and prove the legality of their marriage.

Rehman had said that Manyata was still married to him and the Qazi (clerk) who annulled their wedding was false. After being arrested for sending obscene messages to actresses and models,Rehman is currently in the Arthur road prison.

Sanjay and Manyata tied the knot in a registered marriage in Goa after which they got married at Mumbai as per Hindu rituals. The registered marriage, however, came under the scanner as the Goa marriage registrar’s office sent a show cause notice to Manyata. She had reportedly submitted a fake residential certificate at the time of marriage.

Following the notice, Dutt and Manyata filed an application before the Goa marriage registrar seeking to cancel their marriage, which was accepted by the registrar.

After father-daughter duo Anil and Sonam , it’s the turn of lovers Saif and Kareena to be haunted by brands.

The grapevine is abuzz with news of Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor being offered a whopping 10 crore to do commercials together. After their sky-high fee for films, they will now charge an equally huge amount for ad films.

According to reports, Saif and Bebo may do ads together for health drinks, automobiles and luxury watch brands, among others. No wonder they are now being compared to David and Victoria Beckham.

Apparently, Kareena wants a body like Posh Spice so she can model for any product in the world. It remains to be seen if India’s hottest couple can come close to the Beckhams.

Since Kareena was earlier on an extended break from work, last year she was able to spend maximum time with Saif. She visited him several times while he was shooting in Bangkok and other places for his forthcoming films. But now Kareena too has got back to working and after her hit film Jab We Met, her kitty is gradually filling up as producers and directors are now keen to sign her on.

Hence now Kareena and Saif are planning ahead and trying to co-ordinate their schedules. Kareena came up with the idea of doing brand endorsements as a couple so that they can spend maximum time with each other and Saif readily agreed. A source says “Saif and Kareena are like a new couple who want to be together all the time.”

While both Saif and Kareena are being selective about the films they do, they will have to consider the script carefully even if they are offered other films together. But they have a wider choice with brand endorsements and hence they have put out feelers that they are ready to endorse good products as a couple.

So it seems that Saif-Kareena are going the John-Bipasha way of endorsing brands as a couple. Saif already endorses several brands and Kareena too has recently jumped on the brand endorsement band wagon.

Event: The 16th Annual Conference of the Indian National Association for Study of Liver (INASL). Organised by the Army Medical Corp, the inaugural function saw Priyanka turn up because she is the daughter of army personnel.

However, Priyanka  Chopra not only graced the event but also pledged to donate her organs for the service of humanity. Apparently, the actress realised the importance of organ donation when her father was ill recently.

She has proved that she is not just a pretty face and gorgeous figure but also a beautiful person.The beauty has touched hearts off screen with this noble gesture. Former cricketer and MP Navjot Singh Sidhu also pledged to donate his organs.

Item girl Rakhi Sawant is all set to enter the A league of Bollywood with her item song for Rakesh Roshan’s “Krazzy 4″.

It is directed by Jaideep Sen and he is all praise for Rakhi, who is always in a controversy for something or the other.

He said: “Rakhi Sawant is professionalism personified. She danced for almost 12 hours with just a two-hour break in between. She was very happy to be part of the film and we are very impressed with her dance performance in this song.”

The trailers of her song “Dekhta hai tu kya” have hit the screens and the item queen is back to what she does best - scintillating songs.

Apparently Rakhi was thrilled to be approached by Rakesh Roshan since it was for such a prestigious cinema house like FilmKraft Productions

“Krazzy 4″ stars Arshad Warsi, Irrfan Khan, Suresh Menon, Rajpal Yadav and Juhi Chawla and is due for release April 11.

But what shocked the living daylights out of all who saw her, was her choice to wear two different colored (black and silver) sandals!

What was Miss Sawant’s idea, to wear this weird and wacky combination of sandals, is something we don’t have an answer to.

May be, she wanted to match her black and silver dress with proper black and silver sandals.
